LEAD GUITAR

Scott grew up in the small college town of Auburn, AL, where watching football, playing guitar and getting involved in the local music scene were his major pastimes.

He was fortunate to be surrounded and mentored by talented musicians and joined their bands. They played gigs all over the Southeast hoping to fulfill their dreams of making careers in music.

And some succeeded, eventually working with artists like Dolly Parton, Glen Campbell, Vince Gill, Tanya Tucker, Delbert McClinton, The Judds, Eric Johnson, Roberta Flack, Randy Crawford, The Crusaders, Boney James, Brooks and Dunn, and one even becoming a jazz recording artist (guitarist, Allen Hinds). But Scott chose to use

his guitar playing skills to pay his way through college and obtain a degree in electrical engineering. That paved the way for a great career designing electronics, with the benefit of financial stability and the ability to continue performing and writing music as a part-time musician.

After moving to Raleigh, NC in the early 90s, Scott was fortunate to meet Cal Freeman, a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and one-time producer in Nashville and Muscle Shoals. Cal gradually introduced Scott to a network of very talented musicians in Eastern, NC, and those experiences ensured that he would play in quality bands at good venues regularly for over 20 years. One of Scott’s highlights included working with one-time Nashville recording artist Don Cox for over 10 years. And that relationship led to him opening for a number of Nashville acts as well backing up Country Music Stars Jo Dee Messina, Bucky Covington and American Idol runner-up Bo Bias at some local shows.

Scott retired from his engineering career about the time the pandemic started. He decided to buy a digital multitrack deck and use his time in relative isolation to write, arrange and record instrumental music. Then he created his own YouTube channel to share his original music online (along with a few covers and live performance videos).

This past year Scott started performing live again as a sideman for different groups and vocalists. However, he
is especially excited to be collaborating with his creative and talented fellow band members in The Crosstown Rivals.
